It is time to face the music and share with the church that I need help desperately. Wednesday night attendance has reached a point where my level of skill, patience, and wisdom are not enough to wrangle the unruly throng.

This is merely a step in my plan to recruit helpers for the youth group. I know that our pool of volunteers at FBC Rosharon is small, but I plan, with the help of a few others and some intense prayer, to find TWO people that can come and help change my role on Wednesday nights from authoritarian to teacher.

I’ve been given a lot of very helpful and friendly advice from several people that are far wiser than myself, but it’s been established that putting some of that into practice is going to take more than just Julie and I.

If you are available, able, willing, experienced, or even slightly interested in helping us out, let me know as soon as you can.

Easter Music Rehearsals Underway

The Celebration Choir and FBCR Praise Team have begun work on our Easter music program to be presented on Sunday, April 1 during the morning service. Our program will include meaningful music of the Savior’s sacrifice on the cross. Please join us for our rehearsals Sunday afternoons at 4 pm for Praise Team and 5 pm for Celebration Choir. Our rehearsals are fun and uplifting. Don’t miss out on the fellowship of the choir and the chance to be a blessing in the services.

Many thanks to our faithful choir and Praise Team members. You have really blessed and encouraged us the past few weeks!! How awesome to see seven men in the choir last week!

First, let me say “Thank you” for the gracious reception you have given Sandra and me as we begin this time of transition together. We sense a warm and caring spirit in the fellowship, and we believe that it will continue. My task as Transitional Pastor is to help the church get ready for the next Pastor. I am reminded of the ministry of John the Baptist as he prepared the way for the arrival of Jesus the Messiah.

John chose to describe his ministry by referring to Isaiah 40:3-4. That passage talks about making a smooth highway for God. When a king would travel in those days, word would go out to all the towns and villages on his itinerary that the king was coming. It then became the task of each town to go out and clear the roads of any rocks, debris, etc…so that the king’s travel would not be hindered. That really is a good description of what our mission is at this point in church life. We need to prepare the way so that when  the new Pastor arrives (whenever that is), he will have “smooth sailing.”

I am looking forward to see what God is going to do during this time of transition. I hope you are too.

A loaded/stuffed with brisket baked potato fund raiser in the Family Life Center, after the am service on January 29, will be held to help raise funds for the ladies summer retreat.  Cost for each baked potato is $7.00.

Thank You!

Many thanks to the First Baptist musicians who worked so hard this Christmas!  You were a blessing to all of us.  Thank You for the hours of rehearsal, your sweet spirits and you faithfulness to the Lord.  What an honor to work here with you.

This is my 33rd year to do Christmas programs! I’ve never been busier or enjoyed them more.  I was in, or directed severn programs this year.  I love Christmas music and enjoyed all of it.

Now that a new year has started, let’s dedicate ourselves to another year of service in the musical worship of our Savior.  There are so many ways to listen to music today.  I was thinking that I’ve listened to Christmas music this year on CD’s, MP3′s, Pandora, Media Player, streaming websites, You Tube, satellite radio, television, FM radio, live school programs and church concerts.  With all of these ways to experience music, let’s not neglect the greatest way to praise Him – that’s with our own voices and our lives.

Please seriously consider joining with us as we prepare and present music each week at FBC Rosharon.  You will find a place in the Choir, Praise Team, special music, sound ministry, or Children’s Choir.  Let me know of what you would like to do this year.

A. W. O. L. – A Way Of Life

With this banner we hope to represent Christ in a way that shows people that following Christ is SO MUCH More than what happens at church.  We are faithful.  We are available.  We are teachable.  We are A. W. O. L.

We will be applying this to the walls fo our youth room on January 15 when we have our pizza and paint party.  Cross your finger, hold your breath and pray that God will keep as much paint on the WALLS as possible!
